Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Glory to Jesus Christ!

With the blessing of Metropolitan Nicolae, the Romanian Orthodox Youth of the Americas (ROYA) announces its Heritage Trip for teenagers and young adults in Romania this summer. This trip will take place     July 4 – July 29, 2019. The trip encompasses 5 days at Valea Plopului Orphanage, 6 days at Punta Monastery, 4 days of sight-seeing, and 11 days at the International Camp at Oasa Monastery.

The purpose of the trip to Romania is to reconnect with our roots, both cultural and spiritual. The trip is designed to give young adults an opportunity to deepen and live their faith.

Enclosed you will find applications for the trip. The cost of the trip is $725 USD and should be included with your application. Checks should be made out to St. Nicholas Church, and must specify “Heritage Trip” in the memo. This does not include your transportation to and from Romania; plane tickets and travel insurance are the participant’s own responsibility. Please consider bringing spending or pocket money for souvenirs or other optional purchases. All money for the trip is the participant’s responsibility. Youth who would like to participate but do not have the financial means should consider fundraising in their parishes. Please contact us if you need help and speak with your parish priest about the initiative. With the grace of God, fund raising is not as difficult as it may seem.

The trip begins at Valea Plopului on July 5th. However, those who require transportation to the orphanage have the option of arriving at Henry Coanda Airport in Bucharest on July 4th and meeting with the group in Otopeni before we depart for the orphanage. The other option is to meet us directly at the orphanage on July 5th. We will be returning to Bucharest on the 29th of July at night, so please book your returning flights for the 30th of July.

If you do not have a current passport, you should apply for one immediately. All applications MUST be postmarked by May 30, 2019. There are only thirty (30) places available for the trip. Submitting an application does not secure your participation on this trip. You will receive an email once your application has been reviewed and you have been accepted and officially registered.
