2019 Summer Greenmarket School Tour Request Form
We offer summer tours for young people ages 5-18 years at the Union Square Greenmarket from June 24  through August 30.This summer we will run only one tour per day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tours start at 10:00 AM and last approximately 1.5 hours (90 minutes)

The cost per tour is $152* (up to 20 young people, aged 5 - 18) per class.

*GrowNYC recognizes that the cost of tours for may be a hardship for some.  If you feel that the cost is prohibitive for your group, please send us details. We have a very limited budget for free or reduced pricing.

Due to limited staffing, we cannot accommodate all tour requests at this time.

The summer tour curricula are grade-level appropriate and include an exploratory walk-through of the market, fun seasonal tastings of Greenmarket farmer products, and a food-related activity in which each student will play an active role.

Groups can select one food activity under the following themes;

I. Regional Grains (only available on Wednesdays)
        - Granola
        - Flat bread
II. Herbs
- Seasonal Pesto
- Local iced tea- make a tea blend with herbs and flowers
- Aqua Fresca- using fruits or herbs
III. Using seasonal produce
- Salsa- Pico de Gallo or Verde
- Summer soups- Gazpacho, chilled cucumber or pea soups
IV. Preservation
- Quick veggie pickle
- Quick fruit jam or fruit compote
V. Grow your own food
- Planting local legumes (beans or peas)
- Sprouts in a Jar
VI. Making butter (only available on Wednesdays)
