4/1/2024: We are still taking another sign up or two before we turn off this form. Please email with any questions: westfarmvt@gmail.com
It's already CSA sign up season!
Why join a CSA? You receive ultra fresh vegetables each week and at the same time, you support local agriculture and the local economy. A CSA program helps offset the seasonal startup costs for your farmer, which include things like seed orders, propane for heating seedling greenhouses, fertilizer, compost, potting soil and increased payroll. Participating in our CSA also offers you a roughly 15% discount from retail pricing, the opportunity to try new vegetables AND meet new people. Our weekly newsletter includes recipes and ideas about how to prepare the foods in your share.
AND the NOFA-VT Farm Share program starts accepting applications 2/1!
The NOFA-VT Farm Share program reduces the cost of a local CSA, for folks who are in need of financial assistance. If you are interested in applying for a half-price CSA share for the vegetable portion, use this link to either apply online or download a paper application: https://nofavt.org/farmshare NOTE: The deadline to apply for a subsidized share is March 31st but it's better to apply sooner rather than later because the program is in high demand. Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis and it fills up very quickly. We have supported 25+ families over the last few years! Note that you are welcome to apply even if you've received the award in the past.
Alternatively, if you would like to support the families who participate in the Farm Share program, you can make a donation when paying for your CSA. Please note that if you are donating to NOFA-VT Farm Share program, we need a separate check made out to "NOFA-VT" with "West Farm" in the memo. You can also donate with a credit card via on the NOFA-VT website. In this case, please make sure to select "Farm Share" in the Campaign drop down and type "West Farm" in the donor note : https://nofavt.org/farmshare/donation The summer share program offers a diverse array of summer vegetables. There will be some free choice as there was last year and it's possible we will move more towards free choice as the season moves forward. The CSA program will run for 16 weeks (starting in early June through the end of September).
PRICING FOR SUMMER CSA:
Large share: $625 (feeds 2-4 people)
Regular share: $475 (feeds 1-2 people)
Payments are due in full by April 1st and we will send you an invoice reminder in March for the Summer CSA.
However, paying before April 1st is ideal for us because the beginning of the season is a time when we accrue the most expenses. Checks can be made to West Farm and mailed to 497 West Farm Road, Jeffersonville, VT 05464. We prefer check or cash but can also accept Venmo. Because of Venmo's tax costs, we are asking for a 2% fee to offset this payment method. We are also willing to accommodate payment plans over the weeks leading up to the CSA.
NEW THIS YEAR:
We will likely shift the CSA pickup day to Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Pick up will be on farm in Jeffersonville from 3-6pm. It is also likely that we will shift the CSA pick up to The Farm Between, depending on the timing of the renovations that are currently in progress.
Lastly, after a lot of discussion, we will no longer be offering a summer share drop spot in Morrisville. However, if a group wants to take turns picking up, we would be happy to box up shares, depending on interest.
ABOUT US:
West Farm is operated by Angus and Holly Baldwin on leased land from the Vermont Land Trust/Brewster Uplands Conservation Trust with 12 acres in cultivation of vegetables and herbs. We also lease The Farm Between in Jeffersonville, a fruit farm and nursery and are working to create synergy between the two operations, stay tuned!
West Farm is not only committed to growing food for our local region via wholesale, CSA and several retail outlets but also is focused on food access. We work with multiple non-profit organizations (i.e. Salvation Farms, Healthy Roots, Feeding Chittenden, NOFA-VT, CAE's Produce for Pantries) to ensure that nourishing food is available for all in our community.
