WHO WE AREThe mission of Grow Dat Youth Farm is to nurture a diverse group of young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. At Grow Dat, people from different backgrounds come together to create a more just and sustainable food system. On our farm we work collaboratively to grow food, educate and inspire youth and adults, and build power to create personal, social, and environmental change.
WHAT CREW MEMBERS DOCrew Members work with a group of 10-12 people on our sustainable farm in City Park. In addition to agricultural work like weeding, harvesting, and transplanting, Crew Members participate in workshops about why we do this work--diving into topics like climate change, ecology, food justice, anti-oppression training, and much more. Our program also focuses on building workplace skills, public speaking, and self-confidence. Grow Dat is a safe and supportive community where everyone’s voice is valued -- come learn and grow food with us!
PAY
Crew members earn $11/hr in June. Crew members are paid weekly during the summer program.
A TYPICAL DAY AT GROW DAT
8:15am opening circle (we play a game and share a quote)
8:30 Farm work (we work on the field with our crews - a group of 10-12 people)
11:00 Workshop 1
11:45 Lunch (you’ll get a chance to cook and eat food from the farm)
12:15 Real Talk (you get feedback from your supervisor and give it back in return too)
1:00pm Closing circle

MUST commit to working all of the following dates (excluding personal days)

May 29-June 29: Wednesday – Saturdays (8:15 am – 1:15 pm)TRANSPORTATION: Grow Dat Youth Farm aims to provide a transportation option for those who need it; we will have more details closer to the June program.
RECOMMENDATION: Each applicant is asked to provide us with one recommendation. The recommendation must be from someone other than a family member and must include a signature. Link is on our website or it can get emailed to you.
INTERVIEWS: We will reach out to you via phone to schedule your interview. You will then get scheduled for a group interview at the farm.

QUIENES SOMOS

QUÉ HACEN LOS MIEMBROS DE TRIPULACION: CREW MEMBERS
Los crew members trabajan con un grupo de 10 a 12 personas en nuestra granja sostenible en City Park. Además del trabajo agrícola como desherbar, cosechar y trasplantar, los miembros participan en talleres sobre por qué hacemos este trabajo: profundizando en temas como el cambio climático, la ecología, la justicia alimentaria, la capacitación contra la opresión y mucho más. Nuestro programa también se enfoca en desarrollar habilidades en el lugar de trabajo, hablar en público, y aumentar la confianza en uno mismo. Grow Dat es una comunidad segura y solidaria donde su voz es valorada. ¡Ven a aprender y cultivar alimentos con nosotros!

Crew Members a ganar $11/hr. A los miembros de la tripulación se les paga semanalmente durante el programa de verano.
