Fall 2021 OK-FIRE Virtual Workshop Registration
OK-FIRE is pleased to announce its fall schedule of training.  Workshops will be held in a virtual format over Zoom from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., spanning two consecutive afternoons.  There will be one workshop (Part 1 and Part 2) in October, one in November, and one in December.  They will be led by Dr. J. D. Carlson, OSU fire meteorologist and OK-FIRE program manager.  Workshops will consist of a combination of presentations, website demos, and question/answer periods.  If possible, attendees are encouraged to use either tablets or computers, as the larger screens will make for easier viewing and learning.  Please note that these workshops are designed for those who work directly (or indirectly) with wildland fire (wildfire and/or prescribed fire).  There is no charge for any of the workshops, but registration is required.  An email reminder containing the workshop Zoom link will be sent out to those registered several days before each workshop.  If you have any questions or need further information, please email Monica Mattox (mmattox@mesonet.org).

Indicate which PART 1 OK-FIRE workshop you wish to attend.  The PART 1 workshop will cover:  (1) a tour of the OK-FIRE website, including how to work with maps, charts, and tables; (2) wildland fire, an introduction to OK-FIRE and its weather data sources, fire weather variables and associated products, Oklahoma wildfire climatology, and weather regimes associated with wildfire outbreaks; and (3) satellite and radar products for real-time detection of wildland fire. *
There will be three afternoon Zoom workshops, each held over a consecutive two-day period.  Part 1 of the workshop will be held on the first day and Part 2 of the workshop will be held on the second day.  If you can only make one of the two days, feel free to sign up for the other half of the workshop on another day.  If you cannot attend two consecutive afternoons, it would be best to attend a “Part 1” workshop first and a “Part 2” workshop in a later month.  Note that the registration deadline for each workshop is the Friday before the workshop date.
Indicate which PART 2 OK-FIRE workshop you wish to attend.  The PART 2 workshop will cover:  (1) wildland fuels, dead and live fuel moisture, fuel models, the revised OK-FIRE fire danger model, and fire danger products; (2) operational procedures for fire danger assessment using OK-FIRE; and (3) smoke management and prescribed burn products. *
