Event Description:
For those who can attend, a week at a scout summer camp is a lasting memory and a highlight of any scout's experience in the scouting program.  Troop 82 has reserved the "Oneida" site (part of the "East Camp") at the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation near Pearson, Wisconsin for the week of July 7-13, 2024.

The list of available merit badges from last year is below.  This year's list will likely be similar but has not yet been finalized yet for 2024.

Note: you do NOT need to finalize merit badge selections in order to register for Early Bird registration.  However, merit badge choices DO need to be provided to Mr. Carry shortly after registration.  An updated list of available merit badges will be provided to those who register.  Individual Merit Badge classes open for registration on March 1, 2024 and some classes may fill up.

Departure/Return Time and Place - Specific departure and return times will be determined later and shared with the group as the trip gets closer.  Families should assume the group will depart early in the morning on July 7 and arrive back home in the late afternoon on July 13.  Troop 82 leaders will drive the group to and from camp and 2 or more leaders will stay with the group during the week.

It may be possible to arrange alternative arrival/departure times for individual scouts who have scheduling issues, but a scout who does not travel with the group will need his own transportation to/from camp from a parent.

Costs/Payment - Trip pricing includes transportation costs, a full week of activities, lodging in tents and all meals for the week.

Other Information -
  • Leaders who want to attend please complete your own registration separately - i.e. complete one full registration for the scout and a second registration for the leader - 2 forms total.
  • A week at camp takes a little more planning than an overnight campout.  Expect to attend a separate information session for those attending camp during the spring and prior to departure.   We may also plan to meet at the storage unit a few days or a week before departure to organize group supplies and load the trailer.
  • Payment through CheddarUp is not completed registration until THIS Google form is also submitted.
  • General Summer Camp information:
      - This is a week-long overnight camp where scouts sleep in tents.  Most scouts work on merit badges** during the week and can sometimes complete as many as 4-6 merit badges in a single week.  Food is included for the entire week.
      - Each campsite has its own primitive (pit) toilet facilities.  The camp also has showers and "normal" running water bathrooms at some of the central locations.
      - Scouts will experience campfire ceremonies and other scouting traditions that can be found only at summer camp.  Aquatic activities like swimming and boating are available as are shooting sports (archery, rifle, shotgun) for anyone interested.
      - **This camp also has an introductory program (Trailblazer) for younger campers and several "high adventure" options for older scouts.  These programs are alternatives in place of the typical merit badge activities that most scouts will do at camp.
      - More information about camp can be found at the camp's website: https://makajawan-redesign.squarespace.com/
