The Mountain Moot Team is looking for proposals for academic papers, creative presentations, or discussion panels on our 2023 theme, "The Fellowship of Fandom".

How do you engage with your favorite stories, be they in literature, film and television, video games or any other medium, beyond mere consumption? Is it fan fiction or fan art? Are you inspired to create your own original works? Do they motivate you in your everyday life, to pursue your dreams or to think about the world in a new way? What about the dark side of fandom? Have you ever been affected by gatekeeping, discrimination, and other forms of exclusionary behavior? What about toxic attitudes toward new works within your favorite properties? How can we do better deal with this shadow element of our communities?

This year, Mountain Moot will be open to both onsite and offsite attendees and presenters. Please submit your proposal using the form below. If you would like to submit multiple ideas, please fill out the form separately for each one.

This call for proposals closes on October 21. We will finalize the schedule shortly thereafter, and will contact everyone whose proposals have been selected.
