Pleasant Valley Community School District offers preschool to children that are 4 years old on or before September 15th of the year of attendance. Currently both Bridgeview Elementary and Hopewell Elementary house our district preschool program. Our classrooms are inclusive including both general education students and students with special education needs that have an Individual Educational Programs (IEPs). Children on IEPs may attend preschool beginning at the age of 3. Our preschool is led by teachers who are dual licensed with the state of Iowa - holding both special education and early childhood education certifications. We also have paraeducators in our preschool classrooms.
All general education students are assessed using a consistent screening instrument prior to enrollment in the preschool program. The purpose of the screening is to obtain a sampling of a child’s skills and behaviors. Information from the screening, as well as individual student needs, is used to determine student enrollment in our program.
If the student is eligible for enrollment, parents must provide the student’s birth certificate, record of immunizations and a current physical prior to the student’s start date. Your child will not be allowed to attend until all records are on file.
Screenings are conducted each May for the following school year. If you would like to have your child be a part of the screening process for the Pleasant Valley CSD Preschool Program, please complete and submit the following form.
