EYA Roots & Shoots Internship Application

Join a small team of youth looking to gain work experience and job skills through working on and connecting with the land. Get paid to build your employability skills like communication, digital skills, self management, and teamwork. Gain hands-on job skill training in ecological restoration, native plant horticulture, Indigenous plant knowledge, and environmental education.  Please check out our full job description for more details.

This program is open to youth/young adults aged 18-25 who identify as Indigenous, visible minorities, and/or living with a disability. To participate, you cannot be attending high school. This full-time program will run Tues-Sat, 10AM - 4PM from Feb 22 - July 22 (Land-based training Feb 22-April 30; Work Placement May 2-July 22). Interns will be paid $15.20/hr based on attendance.

[COVID-19 UPDATE] EYA continues to adhere to the guidelines and regulations of the BC Health Authority. To ensure the safety of all participants, staff, and guests, this program requires participants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 due to the high number of contact hours in both an indoor & outdoor setting. For outdoor programming, participants must be masked or maintain 2-metre physical distancing; for indoor programming masks must be worn at all times. Furthermore, we follow EYA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols including no sharing of gloves, mass sanitation of tools, and frequent hand-washing.
