City of Dayton - Adopt a Storm Drain
Did you know that storm drains in the City of Dayton drain directly to our rivers without any treatment?

When it rains, stormwater runoff flows across streets, roofs, yards, and parking lots and can pick up potential pollutants including:
• Litter/Trash (on the ground)
• Sediment (from construction sites/disturbed land)
• Nutrients (from lawn fertilizers)
• Bacteria (from animal and human waste)
• Pesticides (from lawn and garden chemicals)
• Metals (from rooftops and roadways)
• Petroleum by-products (from leaking vehicles)

Polluted stormwater runoff can be harmful to plants, animals, and people.

By adopting a storm drain, you can be the first line of defense in preventing pollutants from entering our rivers and streams.
