Hi there! The McMaster Divestment Project, is a student-led initiative that aims to get McMaster to formally commit to divest from fossil-fuels and reinvest with public disclosure and community insight. We recognize that McMaster has made efforts towards sustainability, but their efforts are insufficient in combatting the climate crisis as they do not align with the science that is reported by the International Panel on Climate Change, the world’s most well-researched scientific body on the issue. Like many other institutions, McMaster is guilty of using the sustainability initiatives they do pursue to deflect from their environmentally destructive actions.
