Attire:
Concerts: There are two options for concerts in terms of mandatory outfits: 1) Chorale dress that will need to be checked out which we will need to try on sooner so I can make alterations or order sizes I do not have currently. 2) Black tux pants and maroon tie will need to be checked out; I ask that you purchase the black button-up shirt and have black dress socks/shoes.
Caroling/yearbook: Chorale t-shirts
Madrigals: Men’s costumes will be rented through the Costume Trunk. Women will wear royalty dresses from the renaissance (not peasant dresses). Students are encouraged to purchase dresses to ensure appropriate size and preferred color but not is not required to participate. Please get any dresses approved before purchasing to ensure it is the appropriate style for this event
*Behavior Policy: Miss Keeney has an overall 'no drama' policy. Chorale members may be removed from the group for behavior deemed unacceptable including, but not limited to:
Any disciplinary referral
Repeated tardiness to rehearsal or class
Any unexcused absence from school or rehearsal
Illegal activity or behavior
Any behavior during rehearsals, productions, school functions, etc.
Disrespect of any kind towards directors, teachers, students, administrators, parents or school personnel
Lack of or improper communication with the director
Inability to follow direction from the director, student leader, or any personnel involved in Chorale
Inability or failure as determined by the director of the student to fulfill a task in an appropriate manner or time
*Cellphone Policy: Miss Keeney should not have to ask you to stay off your phone during rehearsal. This is an advanced group and therefore you should know when is appropriate to be on your phone and when it is not.
*Chorale members are expected to take choir; please understand that scheduling and class loads prevent some kids from doing so which means this might not be an option for all. Therefore if you are not enrolled in choir you will still be able to participate in Chorale. Chorale members taking choir fulfill the requirements to receive a 5.0 enriched credit for choir as opposed to normal choir which receives a 4.0.
*Trip Policy: In the event Chorale takes a trip and we cannot take the whole group, students will be chosen based on merit, participation in the group, teamwork, and leadership. Students who frequently are on phones or not singing will not be eligible to attend certain trips. The expectation is you are part of the team.
Dean's Handbook: Students who miss one of more classes for a schools sponsored activity/field trip (whether for academic or athletic reasons) are expected to notify their teachers and acquire their assignments before the absence and make arrangements to complete the assignments during their absence. Classroom assignments will be due on the very next class day after the school-sponsored activity. Students going on field trips must be passing the subjects of the classes they will be missing.
