Virtual Create/Maker Fair (name TBD)
We are looking for volunteers to help make this new event at Laurel a huge success. While this will be an opportunity for Upper Laurel students to put their learning into action and to showcase their many talents and interests, parents of kids of all ages are invited to volunteer. There has long been a desire to have an event on campus where students can create their own STEAM Projects. This new event will be the perfect complement to the annual STEAM Fair – but in this case, the kids are the ones creating. We are looking for parent volunteers to help kick this off! If you would be interested in joining the leadership team, mentoring a small group of students, or contributing your ideas or expertise, please fill out this Google Form. We will continue to keep the community updated as the event takes shape.

Would you be interested in joining the leadership team in charge of developing and planning the event? Commitment will include meetings every few weeks as well as some work between sessions (estimate of about one hour per week beginning in January). We are looking for 5-6 members for this executive team.

Would you be interested in being a virtual mentor to a small group of students? The commitment would include meeting with a group of students about three times (once per week for an hour in the month leading up to the event) and guiding students on their ideas and progress.

Would you be interested in being a virtual facilitator for a group of projects in May? The commitment would include being available on the day of the event (1-2 hours) to watch students give their presentations and to provide encouraging feedback and awards to all students.
