Welcome to Destination Imagination 2019-2020 Signups!

Destination Imagination is a project-based learning program designed to complement K-12 education. Annually, Destination Imagination offers seven academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts, and service learning. In solving a challenge, students learn the creative process from imagination to innovation and the skills needed to thrive in school, their careers and beyond.

Here is some information you need to know:

There is a maximum of seven students allowed on each team.  The regional competition is traditionally mid-February, typically it has been the 2nd Saturday.  The exact date has not yet been announced, but we will let the teams know when it has been set.  This event is what the students are striving for as they work with their team, and is not an event that your child should miss.  Please make sure that your family will be around during that time before agreeing to participate.

In addition to your weekly commitment, there will also be workdays in order to prepare for the competition. The number of days and hours needed will vary by coach, but could likely be close to approximately 30 hours of work combined.  The majority of these workdays will happen in January and February.

The regional Destination Imagination tournament requires each team to provide an appraiser on the day of the tournament.  The volunteer appraiser can be anyone: a relative, a family friend, or even a teacher.  If a team cannot find a volunteer appraiser, they are required to pay a fee of $250 to Destination Imagination to cover the cost of an appraiser.

All team meetings that are held at the school will be from 3:00 - 4:30 PM on Thursdays.  If a parent is willing to coach and needs to meet at a different time, an alternate location (a team member's house) must be used.

The fee for the 2019-2020 DI season is $80 per student.
