AUGUST 2020 Math Validation Test

SFUSD's Math Validation Test (MVT) is an optional test for incoming 9th grade students who have previously taken a formal full-year Algebra 1 course and would like to be considered for placement in Common Core State Standards-based (CCSS) Geometry. The MVT covers material from CCSS Algebra 1 and CCSS Math 8.

ELIGIBILITY:  A student is eligible to take the MVT if they have completed a full-year Algebra 1 course with a C or better. The course may be provided by their middle school or by an accredited institution. Courses taken outside of the student’s middle school must meet the University of California’s (UC) A–G requirements. Visit hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist to verify that an Algebra 1 course taken outside of the student’s middle school meets UC’s A–G requirements.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION:  Algebra 1 grades and details of course content. See details at the end of this application.

DATE & LOCATION: The test will be given between Aug. 1 and Aug. 4, 2020. The exact date, location, and method of administration will be provided to eligible students after their registration has been confirmed.

DEADLINE:  Submit this application by Friday, July 3, 2020. Submit all supporting documentation by 5 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
