Registration for Event: UWI STA Industrial Engineering and Management Research Cluster Seminar:
ENG Design Office 1 and online, Faculty of Engineering, Wednesday 15th March 5 pm – 7 pm.
Over the years, there has been a steady evolution of Industrial
Engineering and Management (IEM) research moving from traditional focus (such
as Work Measurement and Management Science) towards incorporating such areas as
Artificial Intelligence, Business Process Reengineering, Circular Economy
Framework, Climate Change Adaptation, Human Computer Interaction, Information
Technology and Data Mining, Integrated Management Systems, Lean Operations, Strategy
Formulation and Performance Measurement, and Resilient Organisations and
Practices). This seminar has three parts. 1) An introduction, 2) Highlights of IEM
research accomplishments, and 3) Some ways forward. The First part introduces
the IEM research cluster and its developments at UWI, and underlines the need
and importance of the cluster and associated areas that contribute the building
of the nation’s developments. The Second part is to share with some milestones
and accomplishments of the IEM Research Group at UWI over the past two decades,
in terms of research projects and MPhil/PhD completed, the collaboration work
initiated, and the research outputs/publications generated, as well as the technical/professional
conferences and seminars organised. With an extension of current IEM research
profile, the Third part sets up the research agendas of future work for the
Group. It looks for 1) promoting areas of collective engineering projects and business
potentials of commercialisation, and 2) strengthening the research collaborations
within the Department and intra-collaboration with different engineering disciplines
across the Faculty.
