ESSER III Grant Dollars
The ARP (American Rescue Plan) ESSER III is the third round of federal dollars that have been allocated to public schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Mullen Public Schools has been allotted $153,752.00

ESSER III will require districts to complete contact information, review assurance statements, and agree to the assurance statements that are mandated by the federal government in order to spend these dollars.  The assurances are broken into seven areas that must be met in order to receive the funds.
1. Plan for Safe Return
2. Plan for the Use of Funds and Consultation
3. 20 Percent Must be Allocated for Learning Loss
4. Instructional Materials Assurances
5. American Rescue Plan ESSER III
6. Common Assurances
7. Standard Agreement Clause
The MPS Board of Education took public comment at the June 14, 2021 regular meeting to allow the community to voice their opinions on how the funds should be expended.  This is part of the plan for the use of funds.  The board and administrators talked about hiring some paraprofessionals to help with interventions. There was also a conversation about purchasing new portable technology to help offset any type of closure should it happen in the future.  The board and administration request some public input with this short survey provided below.  With this funds, MPS will be allowed to spend them on specific needs for the district such as portable technology, high quality instructional materials such as new curriculum in the areas of math, science, and language arts, air purification systems added to current HVAC systems, and 20 percent of the funds ($32,000) are required to adhere to learning loss as we have already hired one para-professional to help with learning loss interventions at the K-5 elementary site.
