Application for a work exchange position does not guarantee a work exchange position.
Here are the basics about work exchanges. Please take this information to heart, so that you'll be fully informed when you apply:
Work exchanges are separate from scholarships, but you may apply for both. (see next section for more on the difference between the two ;)
Work exchange folks have a job at camp, like washing dishes or cleaning bathrooms. In exchange for their hard work, they pay reduced tuition (in most cases 50%) to come to camp. Some jobs require special skills, experience, or knowledge, others requiring lifting or standing, etc. You'll be working approximately 3 hours per day for jobs with 50% off tuition. This equates to better value than a minimum wage job!
People with work exchanges are required to arrive at camp by 4:00pm the first day and stay until 11:00 am the last day. We cannot accommodate part-time campers for work exchange.
Work exchangers are also expected to be timely and responsible throughout the week (that means arriving to your shifts on time).
Requests for work exchange will be collected through May 1st. Confirmation of your work exchange acceptance will be given on a rolling basis to help you plan ahead, but specific job/crew assignments will not be announced until after the May 1st deadline when all applications have been received.
You are encouraged to make your work exchange request early to ensure we have a spot for you. Jobs may run out, and date of request is strongly considered. Some jobs require special skills or prior knowledge of the workshop environment. Others are great for first-timers or require no special skills.
