PLEASE NOTE: THIS FORM IS ONLY FOR SEMESTER-LONG CHAPEL EXEMPTIONS, NOT FOR EXEMPTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL DAYS. If you need to miss an individual service for illness that does not require a hospital stay, an appointment or particular family issue, please know that you are automatically granted four chapel skips a semester. You will not receive a special exemption for the normal events of life, so be sure to plan accordingly. If you have an extended illness or emergency, please let me know at Michael.Jordan@houghton.edu and we will consider this on a case-by-case basis. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FORM for that sort of request.
Please note that chapel exemptions are not automatically granted. We will try to respond to these applications within a week.
A couple guidelines:
--you are eligible for a work exemption to miss once per week. If approved for a work exemption, you will need to accrue 12 chapel credits through the semester (1/2 of the usual requirement)
--Part-time and commuter students are exempt from the chapel requirement altogether, and will not be required to attend(though of course you are welcome to!)
