Dear Applicant – please carefully read this important information before applying for a Camp Idlewild Support Staff position.

High School Camp: May 28- June 1
Middle School Camp: June 1 - June 5

We are so grateful that you have a desire to serve at Middle School / High School Camp. As you apply for a position at Camp Idlewild 2022, please know that we take this responsibility very seriously. By submitting your application, you are acknowledging that you are willing and ready to lead and love middle school / high school students. You are also acknowledging that you are in a spiritually healthy place, and are fit to have spiritual oversight over and investment into the lives of our students.

Again, thank you for your interest in joining the Camp Idlewild Support Staff team. Over the next several weeks, many applications will be submitted and our staff will begin the selection process. After you have submitted your application, our team will be in contact to schedule a follow-up interview.

So, how do we make our selections? We’re glad you asked…

Please read the following process carefully.

Here is the system that guides our selection process:

1. FAITHFULNESS – Are you present and actively involved in the body of Christ? Do you attend a service with Pastor Ken on Sunday morning? Furthermore, are you actively involved in the student / college ministry at Idlewild? What is your Bible Small Group attendance? What is your Wednesday PM / ICM attendance?

2. WALK WITH CHRIST - While we want you to have a growing love for the Church, we also want you to have a growing love for Jesus. They go hand in hand. And while faithfulness is a priority for us, we also know that just because you’re involved doesn’t necessarily mean that your relationship with Jesus is growing and vibrant. We want our applicants to have both. In order to get some better insight into this, we will have personal conversations with each of your small group leaders prior to making our selections, as well as one-on-one interview with each applicant.

3. SENIORITY – After considering the first two benchmarks (the most important of our process), we then sort it by seniority. If both of the previous criterion are met, we take applicants in order of seniority. (For instance, if we have a Senior application and a Junior application, and both are faithful and growing in their walk with Christ, we will choose the Senior over the Junior. However, if we have a Senior that isn’t involved or growing, and a Junior that is actively involved and growing, we will select the Junior). As a rule of thumb, we typically do not take High School Freshmen to Camp – however, we would recommend that you apply anyway.

4. APPLICATION DATE – If the first three benchmarks (faithfulness, walk with Christ, and seniority) have been met, and applicants are equivalent on all three, we will then make our decision based on when the application was submitted. (For example, if we have two applicants that are both actively involved, both growing in their walk with Christ, and both Seniors, and we only have one position available to fill, we will select the student that submitted their application first.) All applications are time stamped when they are submitted.

All applications are due by April 20, 2022. However, based on the criteria above, it greatly benefits the applicant to submit their application as soon as possible.

Please note: All applicants must be able to attend ALL days of the camp they apply for. Also, if the applicant is a High School Student, they must attend High School Camp to be considered for service at Middle School Camp.

We hope this criteria is clear and understandable. While we would love to take every person that applies, we are limited on the number we can take based on assignments, needs, and accommodations. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
