Adelante Leadership Initiative Application Spring 2023
Adelante Leadership Initiative

Adelante is the Spanish word for “forward.” We are a forward-thinking initiative recruiting LSU volunteers to tutor immigrant students in Tara High School. Volunteers will be matched with a Tara teacher and work with students in their classroom for a minimum of two class periods per week.

We are within the non-profit Humanities Amped to support volunteers through training, coaching, and reflection and have created a learning community with culturally responsive and healing-centered approaches at our core.

Through this process, volunteers will gain professional skills in communication, critical thinking, equity/inclusion, leadership, technology, and teamwork in a complex environment.

Qualifications:

We support volunteers that are committed, have a heart for service, and can volunteer for at least two class periods per week at Tara High School. Though not required, high preference will be given to proficient and fluent Spanish speakers.

Training & Onboarding:

We will guide you through completing onboarding paperwork (including a background check), completing mandated reporter and volunteer training, completing in-person training, and attending reflection sessions.

Please fill out the form below by Nov 18, and we will email you back with a confirmation on November 21st. Direct questions can be made to lwilde4@lsu.edu and acatta1@lsu.edu.
