This form is for Indigenous Language Communities to request assistance creating keyboard layouts for their languages. Translation Commons is assisting communities that would like to use their language on digital systems, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones. There are many steps to digitize a language, being able to enter characters on a keyboard is only one of them. You can learn more in our Zero to Digital Guidelines.

This service is volunteer-based and free. Translation Commons is an NGO, nonprofit organization. The keyboard creation project will be a collaboration with your community. This ensures the design reflects your language and culture. Our experts will guide you in collecting language requirements and provide training on keyboard implementation.

The resulting keyboard will be open-source and publicly available under creative license. We do not accept projects to create keyboards for sale or commercial purposes.

This form will ask a few basic questions so that we can schedule the right resources to work with you. You may skip questions that you do not know how to answer. Please expect it may take a little time before we respond, but we will contact you as soon as possible.
