Note – The qualifying period for the 2023 playing season.

Aim: To recognise excellence within badminton in the BOP region.

Nominations: Nominations can be made by Clubs members, Committees, and Players

The performance or service in all awards, with the exception of “Outstanding Contribution” to be over a 12 month period; this to cover the New Zealand playing season.

Criteria: There is no restriction on the number of times a person can win an award, with the exception of the Outstanding Contribution to Badminton in BOP which can only be won once.

Nominations: Nominations will be called for by Bay of Plenty Badminton. All nominations to be made on the nomination form provided or using the online form below.

Judges: A Panel of 3 people will determined the winners of the awards annually.

Masters Player of the Year - Criteria: Has consistently had excellent results over the year and/or an extraordinary performance, can be a doubles pair.

Veterans Player of the Year - Has consistently had excellent results over the year and/or an extraordinary performance, can be a doubles pair.

Senior Player of the Year - Has consistently had excellent results over the year and/or an extraordinary performance, can be a doubles pair.

Junior Player of the Year - Under 19 years of age as at 31 December of the current year. Has consistently had excellent results over the year and/or an extraordinary performance, can be a doubles pair.

Team of the Year - Has consistently had excellent results over the year and/or an extraordinary performance. Should have won the competition they competed in. Open to Regional Teams, School Teams and Club Teams.

Coach of the Year - Open to all coaches in Bay of Plenty. To be considered: Achievement of results well above expectation. Development of Players. Ability to get the best out of players/players performing above expectation. Is highly respected by the players and the badminton community for their technical knowledge and delivery. Displays qualities of dedication and commitment.

Administrator of the Year - Open to all administrators with the exception of BOP employees. BOP Committee Members cannot be nominated for their work as a BOP Committee Member but may be nominated for their work in other areas. Demonstrates administrative excellence (systems, processes and communication). Demonstrates leadership and is well respected.

Volunteer Recognition - Open to people who are not paid for the work they do for the sport - can include but not limited to coaching, administration, team managers etc... Has demonstrated a high level of commitment, both in amount of time contributed and through level of enthusiasm. Is well respected for the role/s they play. Has made a considerable contribution and difference to the sport at club, school, association level.

Technical Official of the Year - Technical Official – Referee, Umpire, Line Judge. Displays a consistently high standard of refereeing/umpiring or line judging. Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm. Is well respected by the badminton community.

Club of the Year - Open to all affiliated clubs of BOPBA. Has made a positive impact to the community. Participates in BOPBA competitions ie: Interclub. Has members that play in BOP representative teams.

Outstanding Contribution to Badminton in Bay of Plenty - Has made an outstanding contribution to badminton either at a Club or Association level over a long period of time. Is well known and respected within the Badminton community
