Why do we have a training period for tech team applicants?
Worship is our response to God to declare His value and to place our lives under His Lordship. We consider being on the tech team a calling from God. This calling is not simply about technical talent, but about one’s identity as the worshipper of God. While all of God’s people are called to be worshippers, we believe that some are called to the music & tech ministry.

Joining the worship ministry is based upon talent/skill, servant attitude, commitment, spiritual maturity, and a heart for worship--but not necessarily in that order. We are not looking for performers or attention-getters but rather humble servants to help point the congregation to God. Individuals unwilling to be held accountable to or meet these guidelines are encouraged to share their gifts in other ways within the body. Individuals wishing to join the tech team should submit the application given upon request.

It’s always difficult to find the balance between ministering while maintaining a high standard of excellence but we want to be clear about what our expectations for the tech team are. Quality tech for our worship is something we strive for; not everyone will make it past the training period. In these cases, we are more than happy to offer feedback on ways to improve before re-training or suggest other areas at Cornerstone Church where your gifts can be used.
Basic Requirements for Participation on the Worship Team
  • Be born-again Christians exhibiting a healthy and growing walk with Jesus
  • Be in regular fellowship with God
  • Be spiritually mature and obedient to the Word of God
  • Be in regular attendance at services at Cornerstone Church
  • Be Musically/Technically skillful
  • Be committed and punctual for rehearsals and come prepared
Expectations for Participation on the Tech Team
The time required for the tech team is approximately 8 hours per week when scheduled for the weekend services. (This time frame does not include personal prep time like familiarizing yourself with the music.) Included in the time requirements are Thursday evening rehearsals 
(6:30-9:00 pm), Sunday morning rehearsals (7:15-8:15), and Sunday morning services (9:00-12:00).
 
Team members are required to stay for the entire service, though they are not required to sit through both services. We understand that everyone has busy schedules so we make every attempt to not over-schedule team members and ensure that there will be weeks that you will not be scheduled to serve.

We expect all team members to use our scheduling tool www.planningcenteronline.com to accept/decline scheduled requests, review scheduled services, block-out days you would not like to serve, and limit the number of times you serve per month.
Skill Requirements
Presentation Software
  • Be familiar with ProPresenter or programs like it (PowerPoint, MediaShout, Proclaim, etc)
  • Ability to focus on advancing slides with music, and following cues from speakers
  • Attention to detail when preparing/proofreading slides
Lights
  • Able to adapt on the fly
  • Flexible and willing to follow suggestions
  • Experience with light boards or digital software (Preferred)
Audio
  • Experience with audio mixing--live or studio
  • Familiarity with running click & tracks
  • Flexible and willing to follow suggestions
  • Familiarity with Ableton, Waves Audio, & Behringer products (Preferred)
Livestream
  • Experience with streaming software like Streamlabs OBS
  • Ability to multitask
  • Attention to detail when transitioning camera angles
  • Flexible and willing to follow suggestions
Tech Team Training Process
We are so excited for you to take this step forward to apply for the tech team here at Cornerstone Church. Once we've received your application, someone will reach out to plan next steps. Though you may have experience on tech teams in the past, every setting has its own unique quirks and processes. If the team leaders believe you're a good fit, we would love to have you come out and train with us for the next 4-6 weeks. Worship Tech is a long, and oftentimes complex process. 

Our ultimate goal is the glorification of God through our talents, and the health of our team as a whole. Please keep this in mind and grant us patience as we go through this process together. You can expect to receive an email with next steps and an audition date within 24-48 hours.
