Making the First-Generation Net Work - Student
Thank you for your interest in joining this pilot first-generation program - "Making the First-Gen Net Work". The intent of this First-Generation initiative is to provide opportunities for first-generation faculty and staff to connect with first-generation student.
The Intersection's First-Generation initiative aims to provide academic support, a welcoming environment, and networking opportunities for first-generation students, faculty, and staff to connect. To that end, this is an exclusive pilot program that will match first-generation students with first-generation faculty and staff.
"Making the First-Gen Net Work" is intended to provide opportunities for first-generation students to engage with first-generation faculty or staff members outside the traditional classroom settings while helping The Intersection to develop a program that meets the needs of first-generation students, faculty, and staff.
Requirements:
1/ Be a first-generation student
2/ Complete and submit the attached survey no later than Friday, September 3, 2021.
3/ Be available to meet with your student Net Worker a minimum of twice a month between September 15 - December 15, 2021.
CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES
September 15: First-Generation Net Workers Meet, Greet & Orientation/11:00a.m. - 12:30p.m/SU 208
October: Net Workers' Lunch on Us @ The CommonsI You and your Net Worker will determine the best day/time for this activity
November 8: First-Generation Week Celebration Kick-Off/10 a.m.- noon/Green Space Courtyard (between the SU and Bookstore)
November 9: First-Generation Celebration Breakfast/9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m./SU Ballroom We will introduce the Net Workers as part of the First-Gen Breakfast program
December: Semester Wrap up/Evaluation/Recommendation (TBD)
