This is the application form for the Philosophy and World Religions DEI Scholarship. Please read the information below, and answer all questions. Applications are due Friday, March 29, 2024.
Purpose of this scholarship:
1. Encouraging diversity among our majors, and an equitable and inclusive department.The Philosophy and World Religions DEI Scholarship is meant to encourage Rowan undergraduates from groups traditionally underrepresented in Philosophy and World Religions, and/or at Rowan University, to major in those programs. Underrepresented groups in academic Philosophy and World Religions include women, LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming people, people from economically disadvantaged communities, people with disabilities (broadly construed) and people of color or people racialized as nonwhite, including Chicano/a/xs and Latino/a/xs, Indigenous people, Pacific Islanders, people of African descent, and people of Asian descent.
2. Encouraging curricular diversity.The Philosophy and World Religions DEI Scholarship is meant to encourage the participation of students who are members of underrepresented groups in the academic study of philosophy and/or world religions more broadly, and to encourage a diversification of these fields in terms of perspectives, backgrounds, life experiences, and subject matter in scholarly production.
3. Supporting eligible members of our philosophy and world religions community who are also members of groups underrepresented in academic philosophy and world religions in the completion of their degree.Eligibility: a
pplicants must meet the following requirements:* taken at least 3 Philosophy & World Religions courses (PHIL, REL or PHRE subject codes);
* applying for their Junior, Sophomore, or Senior year.
Award Amount: $500
Applications are due Friday, March 29, 2024. Awardee will be announced in April.
