Instructions

1. Complete and submit this online application.

2. Make your non-refundable $35 application fee payment to IYISF with a front desk staff in person or call 415.753.0909 or mail a check payable to Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, 2201 Sutter St, San Franciso, CA 94115. Applications will only be processed after the application fee is received.

3. Ask your primary Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) to send a letter of recommendation to TeacherEducation@IYISF.org.

I am comfortable in intermediate level Iyengar Yoga classes. I know the Sanskrit names of the poses, how to enter and exit safely with appropriate breathing, and how to use props as needed. I can keep up with the pace of class and remember specific instructions given.

Comments:

I am stable in a 5-minute Sirsasana, and a 10-minute Sarvangasana including variations. I can independently kick up at the wall into Adho Mukha Vrksasana. I can push up into Urdhva Dhanurasana. If I cannot uphold these standards, I can show intelligent alternatives for my particular condition.

Program Commitments

I am committed to completing all modules of the Art of Teaching program. I understand the modules are progressive and my consistent attendance is essential to learning and fulfilling program responsibilities.

I am unable to attend all modules, but will attend individual weekend modules.

I understand that upon completion of all 5 or any number of modules of the program, I will not be awarded a certificate or degree, nor will I be able to identify myself as an Iyengar Yoga teacher. I understand that IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States) is the organization that carries out Iyengar Yoga teacher certification in the U.S. and I can learn more about certification at www.iynaus.org/prerequisites.

I have reviewed and agree to the IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States) Ethical Standards and Considerations, and Ethical Guidelines to Prevent Verbal Abuses, Sexual Harassment, and Physical Abuses – www.iynaus.org.

I understand that the tuition for all five modules of the program is $1265 for early registration before January 10th, 2020 and $1375 after January 10th. A $325 non-refundable deposit will reserve a space in the program with balance due January 10th, or full amount due January 10th. A full refund less the $325 deposit will be given upon withdrawal from the program prior to January 10th. After January 10th, no refunds will be given.

I understand IYISF reserves the right to refuse service to any participant behaving in a way that is harmful or has ill-effect on others.
