The Program for Undergraduate Research in Linguistics (PURL) pairs undergraduate research assistants (RAs) with graduate student research mentors for a quarter of research experience. A list of available research projects for Winter 2022 can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iUiu8aFrJ5arcLJRNYCOtv1HcLtLkilu/view?usp=sharingRA applications are due December 3, 2021. Applicants will be notified if they have been matched with a research project prior to the start of winter quarter. If you are matched with a project, you may choose to enroll in LIGN199 Independent Study credit for your participation.
Note that submission of an application does not guarantee that you will be selected to participate in PURL. Be sure to list all the coursework, skills, and background you have that are relevant to the requirements of the projects you are applying to since RAs will be selected based on project availability and how well they meet the project requirements. If you don't have all of the skills requested for a particular project, you may still apply, but you may be matched with a different project or asked to apply again in a different quarter if other applicants more closely match the project requirements.
Please contact Dr. Emily Clem [ eclem at ucsd dot edu ] with any questions about the application process.
