We want to hear from you! Let's Talk About the 63rd & Racine Green Line CTA Stop!
Share your stories with the Go Green on Racine Team about the historic 63rd and Racine Green line CTA stop in our beloved Englewood Community. In 1994, the CTA closed the entire Green Line for renovation – and then decided to never re-open six of its stops. Given the Racine station’s historic status, that station was not torn down but was shuttered with its platforms eventually to be removed. Instead of an improved station and expanded access to the rest of the city which was promised, 63rd and Racine was left with an abandoned shell.
Do you remember when the Green line stop was open at 63rd and Racine? Do you remember when it was closed? Did this closure impact you, your family or neighbors? We welcome stories from the present or past about the 63rd & Racine Green Line.
