Who did Jesus reveal his Divinity to: *
The Transfiguration of Jesus foreshadows what upcoming event in Lent? *
This is Fr. Robert Barron and he will discuss how the Council of Chaldedon (year 451) defined that Jesus is both fully Divine and fully human according to the Catholic faith.  You may need to listen to it a few times. I know I did.  I will give more background information in the email and after you watch the video.
So there were three theories about Jesus.  The first is called Monophysitism which says that Jesus is divine but not really human.  The second theory is call Nestorianism which says Jesus is human and maybe divine in some mysterious way.  The third theory is called Arianism which states that Jesus is kind of human and kind of divine.  None of the three is what we as Catholics believe.  We believe that Jesus is fully Divine and fully Human, both at the same time.  Match the theory with its belief.  Choose only one for each. *
Jesus is human and not so much divine
Jesus is sort of human and sort of divine
Jesus is divine but not human
Arianism is the belief that
Monophysitism is the belief that
Nestorianism is the belief that
In the year 451 at the Council of Chalcedon it was clearly defined that Jesus is the hypostatic union (individual existence) of 2 natures and one person--fully Divine and fully human.  Jesus doesn't stop being God nor is his humanity compromised. So why did I make you watch the video?  It's sounds very complicated and almost too much to understand.  Remember in a previous lesson when we learned about "consubstantiation"?  Where during the Eucharistic Prayer, the host actually becomes the body of and blood of Christ?  It's because we believe that Jesus is fully Divine and fully Human that this happens during each Mass.  Question:  Check all the items that are true. *

So Father Barron concludes that because we as Catholics believe that Jesus is both Human and Divine at the exact same time, this is the ground work for all of our Catholic morality, ethics and spirituality.  So, it sounds complicated but in reality it is very simple.  Fr. Barron said, "I am most myself when I surrender to God."  What is one way you surrender yourself to God each day? *
So this is how, we as Catholics, are meant to live each day---surrendering to God and His plan for us.  When we spend time in prayer and recognize that God is always with us and surrounds us with His love, compassion, and service we reinforce that we believe Jesus is both Divine and human at the exact same time. So let us apply this knowledge to daily living.  On Page 7 where it shows the "Bully-ometer"..think about what you know about bullying.  Now think about how we are to surrender to God every day.  On the left side are the actions we can take when confronted with a bully situation.  On the right side is the heroic levels we can work towards.  Which level would you choose and tell me why. *
