Application to attend 2024 State Council and 2024 National Convention

Application Deadline:  March 1, 2024

The League, as a grassroots organization, ensures that its members have a voice in decisions at every level. Members participate in electing the board and officers, determining policy positions to study, approving budgets and bylaws, and providing general direction for future plans. These opportunities primarily arise during local leagues’ annual meetings, state biennial conventions, and LWVUS and state councils. Moreover, during these events, LWVUS and state leagues offer leadership development training and seek input on major campaigns and league transformation.

League members have a unique chance to represent LWVMP at state and national conventions and councils as delegates of their local league. Each local league is allocated delegate slots based on its membership count as of January 31st of each year. Delegates wield voting power on budgets, officer elections, bylaw amendments, and policy directions of LWVAZ and LWVUS.

Council delegates will elect a president-elect, ratify revisions to public policy positions, approve any adjustments to the two-year budget ratified at the previous convention, and sanction any emergency changes to state bylaws.
