Calling all music and literary fans!
Louder Than Words Festival is back for a seventh festival in Manchester and we are on the look-out for volunteers to help deliver the weekend festival from Friday 8th – Sunday 10th November at The Principal Hotel, Manchester.

Featuring talks, workshops, in conversations, performances and panel discussions, this high quality literary festival celebrates words – oral, written and published – associated with the music industry.

We have a variety of exciting volunteer roles available:

Photographers and Videographers - this is for anyone who is camera savvy. You will be helping us to document Louder Than Words this year and you’ll get some great images and footage for your portfolio. You will need your own camera for this. You will be given an allocation of events you need to cover in advance of the Festival. As long as you cover what you have been allocated, you can then photograph/attend anything else you wish over the weekend. You would need to send us the edited images as soon as possible after the event, to be uploaded to Flickr, and you would be credited.

Front of House – being the public face of the festival, greeting audience members and contributors on arrival and directing them, checking tickets and assisting with queries from the public.

Reception/Box Office Assistant - working on the Festival Reception Desk which acts as both Accreditation for contributors collecting their passes, and the Box Office for the public to collect or purchase tickets, as well as selling programmes, books and other merchandise.

Stage Management – overseeing timings and set up for events, assisting with the changeover between events, coordinating speakers and performers and ensuring the schedule is kept to. This role also includes some Artist Liaison duties such ensuring contributors have everything they need during their event and showing contributors to their book signings afterwards.

Contributor Liaison - greeting contributors on arrival, checking them in and giving them their accreditation, showing them to their events and book signings, ensuring they have a fantastic festival experience and their needs are catered for.

Social Media Assistant - helping to document the Festival on social media as it happens, gathering content and posting highlights from across the weekend to help the festival to reach a wider audience.

AV Support - helping to coordinate the tech and AV side of the festival and ensure everything goes smoothly, assist with setting up PA systems and projectors for talks and live performances, assisting the festival sound engineers and technical staff, troubleshooting any issues that arise.

In return for your time, you will receive a full weekend pass giving you a chance to enjoy the Festival events across the 3 dates.

Volunteer Briefing Session: 21 October 6:30pm at The Principal Hotel, Manchester - if you miss this then your briefing will be at the start of your first shift.
