Black VegFest is Canceled Until Further Notice
Release Date March 13th

Hello All:

I just received official word from the Mayor's Office who we've been working with since last year and up to the minute since the coronavirus has caused a nationwide pandemic. Officially, our beloved event is being canceled possibly for the entire year. Therefore, that is not just Black VegFest -BRONX 2020 scheduled for April 18th, but also Black VegFest Brooklyn 2020 on August 8-9, where we just received confirmation for our Boys & Girls HS venue in Bedstuy. This is an incredible shock to our system since we work tirelessly the entire year making these events happen.

Just to give you an idea on how fast this development took form: I requested information yesterday afternoon from the Mayor's Office and they said they cannot advise or force us to cancel. This afternoon, an official from the Mayor's Office said "All events with 500+ people now and in the future are cancelled until further notice."

Grassroots Artists MovEment (G.A.ME) which holds and convenes all Black VegFest activities will honor all [paid] vendors and sponsors for potential future small events under 500 or larger. Please cease making any and all further payments effective immediately. Those who have paid, we are sorry we cannot issue refunds as we have made and making payments ourselves. Our hope is that any resources being dispersed will come to us and allow us to finish making appropriate payments for the equipment, promotional services, website maintenance, and supplies. If you would like to assist us, please feel free to reach out to me as we are struggling at this very moment. And, I am seeing it for what it is, just money, only money. [Donations are helpful at this time.]

We will have to suspend our monthly Black VegFest Senior Food Demonstrations which were expanding throughout NYC since the coronavirus wreaks havoc on the most vulnerable. Do know, we will be in the office less. So please email grassrootsgame@gmail.com. But try if you can to rest and reflect. I wish you all the best. And thank you! Thank you for believing in our work. Thank you for being a part of this similar vision and allowing us to steer some part of this journey. We appreciate that trust and do know we tried our best to see this through under the law. Should change arise from somewhere, we will email you quickly.

In Optimism for the Future,

& Black VegFest Team
