Please fill out this form if you would like your student to take the MAP math test for placement in Accelerated Math 7 or Algebra I. If your child has already met the required score during their sixth grade year, LAMS has already honored that score for placement and your child does not need to retest.

The two dates available are Tuesday, July 20, 9am-noon and Monday, August 9, 12:30-3:30pm. If you would like to sign up for both testing dates, please fill out the form twice. Students should bring a water bottle, pencil, and mask.  They will be provided with scratch paper and a computer to use to take the test.  No personal calculators or phones can be used during the test.

All students must meet in the LAMS courtyard 10-15 minutes prior to their scheduled test. Students will then be directed to their testing location. Current COVID practices at LAMS require all students to wear a mask while on campus.

LAMS offers 3 levels of math in 7th grade:

1) Math 7 (7th grade on level math), MAP Math score less than or equal to 235

2) Accelerated Math 7, MAP Math score range, 236-254, Gray Zone: 236 - 242,  Score between 238-242 will be accepted for placement in Pre-Algebra. However, we find that students who make these scores generally struggle with the content unless they are committed to attending help sessions and keeping up with homework assignments.

3) Algebra I, Math score greater than or equal to 253
