Hi, I'm director Par Parekh, and I'm hoping to bring my feature documentary SISTER ÚNA LIVED A GOOD DEATH to group audiences all over the country!
We spent six years making this documentary, with the generous support of ITVS, the inaugural PBS/Firelight William Greaves Production Fund grant, and hundreds of family and friends. In February 2024, the movie premiered on PBS’ Independent Lens, and in March, it became available on Amazon Prime and AppleTV.
The screenings we’ve done so far have led to profound conversations and connections. The film has already started a powerful dialogue about death and dying – something we tend to fear and avoid talking about in American culture.
If you can bring together at least 25 people, I would love to find a way to bring that conversation to your town! Depending on your location and budget, I'm happy to travel to you and help figure out audiovisual logistics. Everything will be on a sliding scale so that as many people as possible can experience this film!
SYNOPSIS:
After a cancer diagnosis, Sister Úna — a smoking, drinking, wisecracking Catholic nun who works primarily with teenagers — chooses to live as she’s dying. Follow the self-proclaimed “leader of the misfits” in her last nine months as she plans her funeral, attempts to complete her bucket list, and teaches us that death isn’t the end of our story.
