Level 2 Straps Teacher and Performer Training - Summer 2024
Hello! Thanks for your interest in the upcoming mixed asynchronous/live online, aerial straps course. The training will cover advanced aerial straps pedagogy and learning principles, unspotted and spotted progressions, a skill dictionary with cues, potential injury risks, and common problems. Participate from your studio or on approved-home rigs/rigging. The hybrid format incorporates independent study, group lectures/discussion, and personalized feedback.

The Level 2 Straps Teacher and Perfomer Training builds on collaboration with experts and innovators in the field of straps coaching and skill performance. Key information will be shared via lectures, group discussion, and embodied practical application of the concepts addressed.

The 40-hour Level 2 Teacher Training Module will build on the foundations and fundamentals covered in Level 1.

If you have not already taken Level 1 and do not wish to do so, there is the option for testing out of the Level 1 requirement via a video assessment where your understanding of different straps skill, teaching and spotting techniques, and overall biomechanics and injury prevention will be investigated.

Program Highlights:

• Participants will receive the Level 2 Skill Reference List for use after the training
• In-depth skill investigation for: 1-arm switches, 1-arm swings, 1-arm spins, intermediate/advanced sequencing, split grip transitions, intermediate drops, 1 and 2-arm waist rolling, and advanced strength skills.
• Ergonomic and effective spotting technique for: all 1-arm switches, 1-arm inversions, spotting intermediate/advanced swinging skills, and waist rolling.
• The benefits and HOW to's for off-apparatus training
• How to use sport psychology principles in your coaching practice with intermediate/advanced performers
• Advanced C-shaping Injury Risk Reduction and Breathing Mechanics
• Planning a training session for yourself or an advanced aerialist
• Building a framework for act creation, sequence creation, and creative research
• Identifying common problems and things that can increase injury risk in DYNAMIC techniques and pathways
• How to approach (re)patterning of skill pathways that are limiting the athlete's success.
• Tendinopathies and risk management strategies
• Skill Acquisition
• Advanced and in-depth anatomy/physiology/kinesiology for 1-arm skills
• Using an "occupational therapy" framework and approach to coaching around/through injuries

Students will, over the course of the training, have :
