The Friends of Camp Concord Counselor in Training (CIT) program is the next step for campers ages 15-16 to take their camp experience to the next level and gain experience in outdoor leadership and environmental education. It is an opportunity to develop job skills, work on a team, and contribute to the camp experience.
The Friends of Camp Concord Youth Camp is a one-week overnight camp for 148 youths ages 9-14. Camp Counselors, including CITs, sleep in the cabin with the campers. CITs will assist their assigned Camp Counselor and cabin group in day-to-day activities while learning to lead the activities, model positive behaviors, and experience working with kids in a camp environment.
CITs arrive at camp one day early (Sunday, June 16, 2024), to meet their counselor, explore the camp, participate in activities, and receive an orientation about the camp’s rules and policies. During the week of camp, CITs meet with the CIT Head Counselor to receive direct training focused on leadership, group management, and risk assessment that will complement and strengthen the CIT’s hands-on experience while shadowing their paired Camp Counselor.
Teens who apply for this program will be interviewed and screened for acceptance. CITs pay a reduced registration fee of $1.050, participate in all activities, and enjoy everything the week of camp includes. Roundtrip transportation to and from Concord to Camp Concord is provided, or CITs may provide their transportation. CITs receive two CIT Staff shirts.
CITs must follow all the policies to attend camp, including the COVID-19 policy and camper behavior code of conduct.
