School Leaders: Ensuring Equity for Multilingual Learners
Educational leaders are key to improving academic language development and academic achievement for multilingual learners. The purpose of this eFacilitated workshop is for school leaders to reflect on their school’s policies and systems in order to craft a team-based leadership action plan that promotes equitable educational opportunities for multilingual learners. Participants will engage in interactive tasks related to equitable instruction for multilingual learners, including using discussion boards, participating in self-reflections, viewing video and analyzing, and creating action plans

Audience: This eFacilitated workshop is designed for school principals, administrators, curriculum coordinators, and others who are responsible for school-level policies, leading school improvement planning and data analysis processes, and making decisions about programs and professional development. EL educators are encouraged to attend with their school leadership to provide feedback.

In order to increase educational opportunity and academic language development for multilingual
learners in their local contexts, school leaders will:

Module 1: Policies and Programs - Create new or enhance existing school language policies and programs within current school improvement processes.

Module 2: Data Literacy - Apply principles of data literacy when making decisions about school structures and programs for language learners.

Module 3: Educator and Family Collaboration - Build structures to ensure educator collaboration while maintaining authentic and culturally responsive family partnerships.
