The intention of the Athletic Program is to: ·

· Teach children teamwork and sportsmanship
· Teach children the individual skill of the sport
· Balance the spiritual and intellectual activities with physical activity and exercise
· Give children an alternative to television, video games and walking the streets
· Encourage parents to become active supporters of this program

In keeping with these goals: ·

· Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members shall show respect to Coaches, Referees, Committee Members and other parents and guardians for both our school and others at all times including on social media platforms.

· No Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members shall use abusive language nor make derogatory remarks in the presence of any player or players.

· No Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members shall openly ridicule the performance of any player, with anyone when any player could overhear such discussions.

· No Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members shall, nor allow any player or family member to directly dispute or question any decision with a referee.

· No Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members shall instill a “win at all cost” attitude in any player or players.

· Use of the school equipment, gym and building is a privilege that we earn with every use. The Parents, Guardians, Committee and Family members must assist in leaving the equipment and facilities in as good or better condition than when they arrived.

· St. Celestine School students who have completed the athletic registration, who are in good academic standing and attend practice regularly are eligible to play.

· Individual coaches and moderators may issue team rules consistent with the goals of the Athletic Committee, with Athletic Committee approval.

· In all instructional and intramural programs, playing time shall be as close to equal as possible.

· In competitive play (games against other schools), eligible players who are present and on time for a scheduled game shall play.

· Coaches should work toward developing the team and skills in lower grades and not judged on their records, but on how the team and players improved each year.

· Coaches are encouraged to develop players at the lower grades, so that the team is competitive at the upper grade levels.

· Parents should follow the chain of command and communicate with the coach first, then the athletic director and principal.

· Parents should follow the school Communication Policy and abide by the "24 Cooling Off Rule" pertaining to communicating athletic matters unless in an emergency situation.

· Parents should consult with the coach about playing time, in a fair manner, respecting the coach. The Athletic Committee is available to hear reasonable complaints.

· All coaches and any assistants must complete and sign any required forms from St. Celestine School and Church.

· No person shall actively participate in any coaching activities until he/she has personally signed a coach’s copy of this code of ethics and has undergone the required background check and training.

· Two adults must be present at all practices and games. (Those adults must be compliant with the background check and training requirements.)
