  3. The superintendent or his/her designee may allow the student to remain enrolled in the same school for either the remainder of the school year or until the student completes the highest grade level in that school.
  4. Students must remain in good standing with regard to academics, discipline, attendance, tardies, and other measures of standing and progress in the school system, such transfer may be revoked and rescinded by the superintendent of his/her designee at his/her discretion.
  5. Parents are reminded that they must reapply if their child is advancing to a middle school or to a high school for the 2024-2025 school year.  The student may continue in that particular school feeder zone only upon approval of a new transfer request.
  6. It shall be the responsibility of the parent, legal guardian or legal custodian to provide transportation for any student attending a school on an approved transfer request.
  7. All sections requiring applicant information must be completed or the application will not be processed and will be returned to the parent/legal guardian for completion.
  8. If conditions become overcrowded, transfer students are subject to being returned to their assigned school by legal residence to meet state requirements for class size.  If this is necessary, the Board will first ask for volunteers to be relocated and, if overcrowding problems persist, students will be involuntarily reassigned to their home school based on legal residence, with the last students approved being the first students relocated.  The date of the receipt of the application will be the date used to determine the order in which students are to be relocated.
  9. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ATHLETES TRANSFERRING INTO A SCHOOL - Student transfers from one school to another shall not be based on participation in athletics and will be governed in such a manner as not to impair the ability of students in their home school to have appropriate access to participate in the athletic programs.  A student is eligible for athletics in the district in which they have legal domicile.
  • A student transferring from one member school to another member school within Lincoln County Schools is eligible for athletic participation upon the initial transfer.  By mutual agreement that the transfer is not for athletic purposes, a student's first transfer from LEA school to LEA school, and absent a bona fide move, is not subject to the NCHSAA Transfer Policy.
  • If a student transfers from one Lincoln County School to another Lincoln County School and then attempts to transfer to another Lincoln County School, the student shall be deemed ineligible for athletics for a 365 day period.
