DEI 101 Workshop Registration - Spring 2024
Please fill out this form to register for this semester's DEI 101 workshops offered through GateWay's Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

In order to ensure safety and accessibility our workshops will be hosted with in-person on the GateWay Washington campus in the DEI Center MA1150 and streaming options. Additionally, we offer workshops twice per week to allow students more opportunities to participate on the days you are available. If you have any questions, contact dei@gatewaycc.edu.

Workshop Selection

Storytelling Through Your Professional Statement - Wednesday, Jan. 31 @ 12-1pm OR Thursday, Feb. 1 @ 4-5pm *
During this session, participants will become familiar with core components of a professional statement, reflect on personal and professional experiences to identify individual values and assets, and develop a plan of action for drafting a professional statement while embedding it in professional assets. 
Roots of Colorism - Wednesday, Feb. 14 @ 12-1pm OR Thursday, Feb. 15 @ 4-5pm *
During this session, participants will learn the key terms and concepts around colorism, understand the origins of colorism and why it persists, explore paths for healing from and protecting against colorism, and reflect on how colorism appears in your life to improve interactions with others.
Recognizing & Responding to Microaggressions - Wednesday, Feb. 28 @ 12-1pm OR Thursday, Feb. 29 @ 4-5pm *
In this workshop, participants will learn about microaggressions, what they can look like, and how to appropriately respond.
Professionalism & Cultural Identity - Wednesday, Mar. 6 @ 12-1pm OR Thursday, Mar. 7 @ 4-5pm *
In this workshop, participants will learn about the roots of professionalism, how to be culturally sensitive in a work environment with cultural dress, tips on expressing cultural identity in a professional setting, and how to advocate for yourself and others. 
Gender & Sexuality - Wednesday, Mar. 20 @ 12-1pm OR Thursday, Mar. 21 @ 4-5pm *
During this session, participants will learn definitions and fundamental concepts around gender, sex, and sexual identities, and explore how these relate to their own lives and work.
Immigrant & Refugee Experiences - Wednesday, Apr. 3 @12-1pm OR Thursday, Apr. 4 @ 4-5pm *
During this session, participants will gain an overview of immigration and refugee patterns throughout US history, and how different policies have shaped our current landscape.
Disability, Ableism & Accessibility - Wednesday, Apr. 17 @12-1pm OR Thursday, Apr. 18 @ 4-5pm *
During this session, participants will learn definitions and key concepts to better understand visible and invisible disabilities, ableism, and how everyone can work to improve accessibility.
