WRA Performance Athlete Programme athlete application
The Wellington Rowing Association are offering Performance Athlete Programme incorporating aspiring athletes from the School leaver, University and Adult groups. This is a Rowing NZ supported winter initiative for athletes who would like to represent NZ in rowing.
The entry points are:
School Leaver entry
The School Leaver Group is one of the possible options on the performance pathway. This is specifically targeted at Yr 13 students who have their last season of school rowing in 2020/21. Up to 8 male and 8 female places will be available.
University entry
Targeting inbound and current university rowers, who can train alongside the other groups. Connections from other regions and RNZ, for contacts. Eg. existing light blues members who are now in Wellington. Up to 4 male and 4 female places will be available.
Aspiring Adult entry
Aspiring Club athletes who also can train alongside the other two groups. Open to club age athletes, from 17 – 25 years in age. Up to 4 male and 4 female places will be available.
The programme will run from May - October with weekly performance sessions, (which will sit alongside training at the athlete's club), as well as two away camps and a provincial competition. All athletes on the programme will be eligible for selection to the National Development camp (former RPC trial) in August, as selected by the National Pathway Coach.
There will be a cost to the programme of $150 which will need to be paid on acceptance to the program.
Applications have been extended and are now due by Wednesday 5th May 2021.
