Gateway Disclosure - Automation and Robotics
OVERVIEW
In the Automation and Robotics class, students discover the use of automation in society and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. We will learn to build and program robots to complete simple and complex behaviors. Most of all we will have fun!
GOALS
Students will learn to use problem solving and teamwork to gain skills necessary in understanding mechanical and automated systems while enabling the use of science with technology.
REQUIREMENTS
You will need to have a pencil, paper and a graphing composite (engineering) notebook, I will supply the rest. We may on occasion use clips and movies in class. All clips and movies will be rated G or PG.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
IPods (including ear buds), cellular phones, or other electronic devices are not to be displayed or used in the classroom or Labs. These will be allowed at certain times but only with teacher permission.
MAKE-UP AND LATE WORK
All work is due by the due date. The class is split up into units. Late work for each unit must be turned in prior to the end of the unit or it will be counted late with a loss of 20% on the assignment. All work missed due to an absence is required to be made-up. Please ask for work missed the day you come back to school.
ATTENDANCE
This is a project/lab based class, your attendance is very important. Making up labs will have to be done before school or after school.
EXTRA CREDIT
There will be selected opportunities to earn extra credit.
