Cooperative Workplaces Study Group Interest

The Cooperative Workplaces study group is a new 4 week study group being run by Cleveland Owns to explore and build energy in cooperative workplaces, or co-op businesses owned by their workers and/or communities. We help to start such businesses because we believe that in racial capitalism, ownership matters, and co-ops can help us all work towards a more equitable and democratic Cleveland owned by its residents.

This study group is running for the first time April 15 -- May 6 and signups are now full. Please leave your information below to stay in touch about future iterations of this learning experience!

Format of the first study group:

  • Four evenings, 6-8pm
  • 1-2 hour prep per session
  • Masks and snacks provided

In 4 weeks we will cover...

  • What are co-ops and examples from Northeast Ohio
  • How co-ops can help us build an economy that works for all
  • Why and how to start a co-op
  • Cooperative collaboration skills
What we hope you will get from this program...
  • A better understanding of the co-op model
  • Information to decide if the co-op model is something you want to explore further
  • The opportunity to build relationships with other Cleveland cooperators

Individuals and teams that complete this program wanting to start a co-op will be able to apply for Co-op U, Cleveland Owns’ incubator program that will run for 16 weeks this fall.
