AIA/SCS Career Development - , March 17 Registration
The date for this seminar is March 17, 4:00-5:00pm CDT. Nathalie Roy and Micheal Posey will lead a seminar about K-12 teaching.

A zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the seminar, and again on the afternoon of March 17.

The seminar will be one hour long with a large focus on Q&A for presenter(s) preceded by an introduction to the topic and stories from personal experience.

Presenter bios:
Nathalie Roy has been teaching Latin for the past 28 years at the secondary level. In the past five years, she has focused on developing two courses that merge STEM and classics, Myth Makers and Roman Technology. Both courses center hands-on activities, experimental archaeology, and maker-centered learning for middle school teenagers. She is a Fulbright Scholar, a National Board-certified teacher, and a recipient of the SCS's Award for Excellence in Teaching at the K-12 Level. Nathalie has just finished her year of service as the 2021 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year, an experience that allowed her to meet President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. She teaches at Glasgow Middle School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Micheal Posey currently teaches Latin at Mountain Brook Junior High School in Mountain Brook, AL.  He has taught World and Classical Languages in several secondary schools throughout the US.  

In Poseyʻs teaching tenure, he has been recognized four times as a National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) grant recipient.  Most recently, Posey was selected for the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms (2021), a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.  He considers himself a lifetime learner!

Professionally, Posey serves as a Writing and Steering Committee member on the National Latin Exam and is Chair of the Pegasus National Mythology Exam. He has been a featured presenter at several local, regional, and national professional conferences on utilizing online formative assessments and incorporating current educational technology in the world language classroom.  

Posey has traveled extensively in the Americas and Europe and is most passionate about introducing students to meaningful global opportunities and world-connected learning.
