The Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club (the Club) is made up of paddlers who have gathered together to support and sponsor dragon boat racing in Florida.  The purpose of the Club is to organize, develop and train race teams; seek financial sponsorships and hold fundraisers to offset individual costs.  All officers and committee members serve on a voluntary basis.  All team members / participants are acting on their own behalf when participating in a Club or race event.  Therefore, I, desire to join / participate on a team, banding together and sharing the risks with each person taking full responsibility for the consequences of their actions, do hereby declare that I fully understand and accept the following facts of life on the water:  Participation on a team exposes participants to various hazards.  No one but myself is responsible for my safety when I choose to challenge my capabilities by paddling on a team; I expect to assist my fellow paddlers to the best of my own personal skill and ability if they appear to need such assistance, but only if I can do so, in my own judgment without significant danger to myself.  I further understand that this does not imply any legal duty for me to do so nor for anyone else to do so for me. I also understand that the Club requires PFDs be worn OR in the boat and accessible at all times while on the water.  NOW THEREFORE, INTENDING TO BE LEGALLY BOUND, I HEREBY WAIVE, for myself and anyone else claiming through me, MY RIGHT TO SUE the Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club, its officers, boat captains, steers, or any of my fellow teammates for injuries to my person or damage to my equipment which may occur during, in preparation for, or in transit to or from a Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club event. This waiver applies to any negligent act or omission, and to any intentional act intended to promote safety and wellbeing. This waiver is given in the interest of permitting the Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club to exist and to serve the Nature Coast Dragon Boat community, and to enable my fellow paddlers and me to feel free to fully participate in all Club activities without fear of liability.
