People for PSEO Board Application
People for PSEO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes the PSEO program as a way to break cycles of poverty, close education disparity gaps, and reduce the costs of college.

Board Member Expectations:
- To review, approve, and monitor the annual budget.
- Assist in developing yearly priorities and work plans
- To take an active role in fundraising for the organization.
- To help meet annual membership recruitment goals.
- To be active on one or more committees.
- To represent PPSEO in discussions with community members, journalists, legislators and other parties that help advance the purposes of PPSEO
- To understand that attendance at board and committee meetings is crucial to the progress of the organization and will commit to be present for board meetings.
- To commit 2-3 years as a board member to People for PSEO

Committee Descriptions 

Finance Committee

Ensure the financial stability and sustainability of People for PSEO and maintain compliance with the provisions required by the IRS to maintain tax-exempt status. Prepare annual budget proposals to the board, ongoing financial oversight including appropriate controls over revenue and expenditures. The Committee may engage in grant-writing, the solicitation of contributions, and other fundraising operations. The Finance Committee shall maintain the donor database and facilitate donor stewardship.

Student & Membership Committee

Recruit current and former PSEO students, parents of current and former PSEO students and other interested parties to become members of People for PSEO. Give students an opportunity to develop leadership by mobilizing students to assist essential People for PSEO activities in each of the other committees. Develop a widespread PSEO community for students. 

Communications Committee

Manage the publicity activities of People for PSEO as a way to share information among current People for PSEO members and to coordinate outreach and advocacy activities to connect with students, families, and the general public.

Legislative Committee

Work in collaboration with policy-makers and other supporters of PSEO to improve and implement state policy and ensure that Minnesota students may use the PSEO program as an option in their educational planning.

Time commitment: Board meetings are held via zoom once a month for usually 2 hours. Each board member is also expected to serve on a committee which would require a total commitment of at least 4 hours a month. Can you reasonably commit this amount of time? *
