Last winter we had a lockdown, so the riding school was shut down for most of the winter session. We are excited for riders to get to experience the heated tack up area this winter! The winter session is 10 weeks long, Monday, January 3rd - Sunday, March 13th, but we only bill for 9 weeks in case of an inclement weather cancellation. Lessons will be canceled in the event of freezing rain, heavy snow, or extreme cold (below - 12c before the wind chill), so riders never need to worry about driving to the barn in poor conditions or riding when it is too cold.

Rider Level *

Non-rider: Little formal instruction (for those on the waiting list)

Beginner: walk, trot, small amounts of canter individually, trot poles or single cross rails

Advanced Beginner: cantering in pairs or a small group, small courses of jumps up to 2' in trot or canter

Novice: Above + working on rhythm, suppleness, contact on the flat, trot without stirrups, courses up to 2'4" in canter

Intermediate: Above + Able to ride an entry-level dressage test, canter without stirrups, courses up to 2'8" with combinations, challenging turns, etc.

Advanced: Above + Pre-training/training level dressage test working consistently on the bit, basic lateral work, 3'+ courses, jump without stirrups, able to ride a wide variety of horses

Session Two Scheduling

Ideally, the schedule will remain essentially the same, but we will likely have to adjust the schedule slightly depending on the required changes or if the instructors feel changes are needed to rebalance group lessons. Please be aware that even if you select that you are happy with your current time, we may have to move your lesson time. As the schedule is currently very full, we may not be able to accommodate requested changes to lesson times but we will do our best! If riders choose to discontinue classes over the winter, we cannot guarantee there will be space available if you want to return in the spring session as there are a large number of riders on the waiting list currently.
