The Marshall Scholarship selects 40-45 US students each year and provides funding to allow them to study abroad in the United Kingdom. The amount awarded is enough to cover university fees, cost of living expenses, books, thesis research, daily travel, travel to and from the United States and a contribution towards support of a dependent spouse. The award normally lasts for 1-2 academic years with some candidates eligible for a third-year extension. Those who already hold a British degree are not eligible for the scholarship.
Students selected for the scholarship are expected to take graduate-level classes at a UK institute. This scholarship is open to students who are US citizens and have a 3.7 GPA (or better) at the time of application. Candidates for the 2024 Marshall Scholarship must have completed their first bachelors degree AFTER April 2021 and BEFORE September 2024. Students from any discipline or major are encouraged to apply.
VCU's National Scholarship Office is pleased to host Ms. Jessica Border, Chief Communications Officer for Education Engagement at British Embassy, who will offer an information session explaining the Marshall Scholarship opportunity on Monday, March 20 @ 11:00 am EDT. There are options for interested students and recent alumni to attend either virtually or in person. Those who are unable to attend can also request a link to view a recording of the information session.
The in person option will be held in the NSO Conference Room (Room 1210) on the first floor of the Honors College building at 701 W. Grace Street, Richmond, VA. Zoom links will be sent to all virtual participants the morning of the information session.
