1) Teaching basic public speaking skills through a series of online classes (Level 1 ~ Level 3).
     2) Continuous practice in a club setting. Through club meetings, members not only grow their communication skills but also develop leadership skills.
     3) On top of learning the fundamentals and having a long-term practice environment, the Academy offers further growth opportunities in more advanced areas, such as speech competitions, being a YouTube creator, and handling interviews, etc.

All of our courses are crafted and taught by Sunny Fridge, PhD in Education, a.k.a. Level 1 focuses on learning conversational and social skills through engaging discussion, role-play, and speaking games. Students will apply the skills learned and create a talk show video project.

☼ Lessons are taught in small coaching groups (2 ~ 4 students per group).  This way we ensure that each student has plenty of time to practice the speaking skills during the sessions.

☼ Level 2 is an intermediate class and focuses on learning frameworks for impromptu speaking with a limited amount of preparation time.
☼ Level 3 is an advanced class that focuses on learning formats and techniques to successfully prepare, practice, and present speeches that wow an audience.
☼ Level 3 students are eligible for our Public Speaking Club.

Dr. Sunny Fridge is an award-winning professional speaker, educator, and communication consultant. Dr. Sunny is the co-founder of Speak & Shine Academy and Speak & Shine Youth Club. She is the creator of Speak & Shine­™ communication and public speaking courses and workshops for kids and adults. She is a certified coach, speaker, and trainer with the John Maxwell Leadership Team. She is also founder of Chance Network Inc, a non-profit venture that empowers young people and women through personal and professional development.

Prior to her retirement, Dr. Sunny was a university professor in Communications and Journalism for 20 years. While working for CBS when she lived in New York City, she enjoyed interviewing newsmakers like General Colin Powell, Regis Philbin, and Oprah Winfrey!

All club meetings and coaching sessions will be provided online using the Zoom Video Conferencing platform (zoom.us).

For the club enrollment, we will include both the student and parent email addresses in our club group emails.  For each club meeting, a detailed meeting agenda will be emailed about one week in advance and the meeting zoom link will be included.

For the coaching sessions, Dr. Sunny Fridge will contact you to arrange them according to the student's time availability.

Please check your emails in a timely manner.

A full refund will not be issued except for conditions covered under Force Majeure.

If a parent decides that the course/club is not suitable for his/her child after attending the first, second, third, or fourth session/meeting, the parent may request a partial refund with a written request to withdraw the student from the enrollment. The written request needs to be emailed to Dr. Sunny at dr.sunny@speakandshine.org at least three days before the next session/meeting. A prorated fee for unused coaching sessions and/or club meetings will be issued. No refund will be issued after the fourth session/meeting except for conditions covered under Force Majeure.

A refund cannot be issued for a missed session, online class, or club meeting, if it is caused by an issue at the student's end.

If a coaching session, online class, or club meeting cannot be provided at a planned time because of an issue at the academy end, the teacher/student coordinator will contact parents/students for a makeup session/meeting first. If a makeup session/meeting cannot be arranged, a refund for this missing session/meeting will be issued.

FORCE MAJEURE

This course is subject to termination without liability upon the occurrence of any circumstance beyond the control of either party – such as acts of God, war, disaster, to the extent that such circumstance makes it impossible to provide the course or coaching. We will refund a pro-rated fee for all terminated sessions/meetings.

By attending a Speak & Shine™ online meeting/session, you agree that teachers and class assistants may take photos and videos for educational purposes.

These photos/videos may be shared among students, assistants, parents, and guardians for educational purposes without additional consent. Such sharing may include uploading photo/video content to a private/unlisted online storage location.

Some photos/videos may be published on websites or social media for the purpose of promoting public speaking and youth leadership development. Unless a written request to NOT PUBLISH a student's photo/video is received, the parent/guardian consent is considered as YES by default.

If a privacy issue occurs on the part of the teachers and/or the assistants, a parent/guardian shall text/email the teachers or the assistants using the contact information listed. The appropriate correction will be taken as soon as possible.

The parent/guardian shall not take actions against the teachers and/or the assistants unless there is gross negligence on the part of the teachers and/or the assistants. Gross negligence is defined by Maryland state law.
